We had a fantastic turnout for our Canada Fun Day. We had 64 club members who turned out in all shades of red and white to celebrate our nation’s big birthday, and to support the CHAMPS Program of Canada. This charity event helps to raise money for devices need for child amputees in our area. This year, our club did not disappoint, raising over $1320.00 for the cause. Darevin from CHAMPS received the cheque from club president, Rob Matthews. First place bragging rights went to the team of Tex Gooding, Brian Larkin and Anne Gudbranson and Anne Pelton. Second place a.k.a. the Please Come Back Award went to Gary Steele, Betty Nordick, Dave Thomson and David Stamp.
Thank you to everyone who made this such a happy, fun filled and supportive day for the CHAMPS Program.

I took on as social director last November at the AGM. I fully intend on finishing this lawn bowling year, but because of personal health issues with Don, I feel I need to step down.
I will do my best to finish this year out, but if there is anyone that has the time to fill in next year that would be wonderful!
Since the kitchen has been open for meals again, the socializing has increased immensely! I can certainly help in any way on the side.
This club thrives on social get together. Please give it a thought to step up.
Due to poor attendance after Thursday afternoon draws the bar will no longer be open after Thursday draws starting in July. In its place we will begin offering bar service after the Wednesday afternoon draw to see if there is more interest. I invite you all to stay afterwards and socialize with your fellow members.
Our club will be featuring Community Appreciation mornings every Friday beginning June 6th to July 4th. During that time, we will be offering a FREE lawn bowling lesson to interested participants. This offer is being extended to ages 10+ and will give kids AND adults an opportunity to experience the fun and basics of the game. Please wear flat soled shoes and comfortable clothes. We supply the bowls…you supply the fun. Come and see why lawn bowling is a great sport for almost any age.
Our club knows how to party, whether it’s Victoria Day, Canada Day or any of the other wonderful times that we celebrate being Canadian. We started the season off right on May 19th with our annual Bowlympics afternoon. This annual event, sponsored by RBC Wealth Management, has been a mainstay of our Victoria Day celebrations for a number of years. They have been kind enough to provide for all the medals since the inception of this special event, and we are appreciative of their support. We also had a very special guest honouring us with her presence as well. Lady English Rose ( a.k.a Mavis Gooding, dressed as Queen Victoria’s great, great great, great, great (I think that’s enough greats) grand-daughter was in attendance. She brought much joy and humour to the afternoon’s fun events. As usual, all the volunteers in their various capacities did a wonderful job making sure it was a great afternoon. Thanks so much to Chuck Benson for the great pics.
Gold medal winners in the event were Donna De Wolfe, Miriam Gunn and Mavis Gooding. Silver went to Mark Anstey, Barb Campbell and Tex Gooding. Bronze was earned by Don Urquhart, Linda Burgess and Bros Brosnikoff.

April is planning a big party to celebrate PLBC 30th Anniversary for our opening day draw on April 27.
The party will run from noon until 5 pm. After bowling 8 ends at 1:00 there will be games and golden oldies music. There will also be hot dogs, goodies and a cake from our local bakery, Nana and Papas. The bar will be available as well!
April is still looking for volunteers to run EASY games. Please email her if you can help out.
Sheila and I would like to send a warm thank you to everyone who donated to the food bank drive this past Christmas.
Through your generous support our club was able to deliver 2 full car loads of food for those in need!
There have been some questions regarding the gift exchange. I will suggest a gift AROUND the $20 mark. It’s not mandatory to buy a gift at all, your choice.
It would be a good gesture to donate to the food bank for the people in need!
Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday for a fun get together!! There is still room for more to sign up.
If anyone has any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me by email or phone.
