Wonderful Weekend for Tenderfoot Tournament Players
July 17, 2023
Parksville Lawn Bowling Club
Parksville Lawn Bowling Club hosted its annual Tenderfoot Triples Tournament July 15th and 16th. The tournament, sponsored by The Urban Edge Hair Group saw a full roster of 16 teams from around the zone taking part in the two day event. Nanaimo teams took four of the six places in the winner’s circle, with the team of Anne Yewer, Bruce MacNiven and Dennis Drezell taking first place. Second went to Qualicum’s Ross Nakagawa, Jan Hansen and Grace Jenner. Third was Nanaimo’s Karen Hungar, Brian Howe and Joe Carter. Our own team of Mary and Kent Card with Joan Brenner took fourth. Fifth went to the Nanaimo team of Ron Kulai, Diane Endrizzi and Shawn Watlan, while Larry Rector, Leslie Howe and Sloan Waldie , again from Nanaimo, taking sixth.
A special mention should be made to our Parksville teams skipped by Bob Ashton, Mary Card, Brian Larkin, David Van Rooyen, Joey and Bob Merrell who put together teams for this event. It was great to watch such wonderful games from these skips and their teams and the future looks bright for lawn bowls in Parksville because of their efforts on the green this past weekend.
Anne Yewer, Dennis Dezell and Bruce MacNiven from Nanaimo – First place winners of the tournament. Our own Mary and Ken Card with Joan Brenner smiling with their hard fought, fourth place finish.
Next up is our annual Jack and Jill Tournament this week (July 19th and 20th) See you on the green and happy bowling, everyone.
